At the MAC 2004 summer institute, we learned to work more explicitly to help students progress up the developmental staircase – solving quantitative problems in molecular and cellular biology. We worked on problem sets that will lead students through level one type of problems then help them master skills at each level before asking them to solve problems at the higher steps.
