1. Pick two public companies in which you have some interest.  Visit the company’ websites or one of the following investment-oriented websites, and download the company financial statements for the most recent year you can find.  Calculate the financial ratios listed on page 493 in the text. There are ten ratios, try to calculating at least seven of the ten.  Briefly assess the financial strengths and investment potential of the firm by explaining what each ratio means and what you found.
