Outcomes for Students:      

Students will be able to:

• Draw XY-scatter plots with proper scaling when given a set of data, including numbers with exponents 

• Estimate best-fit lines from XY-scatter plots

• Use Excel® to prepare XY scatter plots, and obtain hardcopy printout of a plot with trend line, slope and intercept of the least-square fit line.

• Interpolate a best-fit line to predict a Y-value when given the X value, and vice versa.

Assessment Scheme (Draft):

 Part 1: Participation in group work and class discussions

   Satisfactory completion of worksheet

Part 2: Satisfactory completion of tutorial software

Part 3: Excel Graph submitted has appropriate scaling, axes labels, least-square fit line, and interpolation results.
