Student Activities

B.  Deck of 100 cards. Each student takes a card, puts their name on a card or marks it in some way so that they can remember it.

A person is asked to come in and randomly pick a certain number of the cards relevant to the chances of getting Hepatitis C from needle use.

The cards are turned over and the sick are identified.  Discussion ensues.

Marbles or other objects are also possible.

C.  Students read through a research article such as the latest report on youth and smoking.  They are given graph information, and asked as a group to create a graph that accurately represents the information.

Practice with graph creation and examination becomes a regular activity.

Similar activities take place each Wednesday of the last five weeks of the term.
