DID YOU KNOW?  There are similarities between language and math.

How we combine elements in a sentence has an impact on how the should be interpreted.  Some of the rules about how this works have parallels in mathematics. Let’s take a look at some examples.

 

MATH SPANISH
Addition

a + b = b + a

Conjunction

Tomo café y té. = Tomo té y café.

   
Equation

3 + 4 = 7

Ser

Esta seńora es profesora de matemáticas.

   
Distribution

2x + 2y = 2(x + y)

2x + y ≠ 2(x + y)

Conjugated verb + inf.

Quiero comer  y quiero beber. = Quiero comer y beber.

Quiero dormir y trabajo. ≠ Quiero dormir y trabajar.
