Brief Description: We will revise assignments and the associated rubrics to incorporate more quantitative reasoning. This will help answer the question posed to students “So what…” :
- does this mean?
- are the trends?
- are the concerns?
- are the consequences associated with the data collected?
- are other factors that should be considered?
Outcomes: We want the students to:
- make sense of the data collected during activities
- use the data collected to address the topics in the activities
- assess the limitations of the method used to collect the numbers.
Explicit correlation between math and non-math content:
- Biology: will provide the underlying questions and the data
- Mathematics: will provide the tools to describe the data, interpret the data and assess limitations.
