- Implementation Dates: Fall semester, 2007 or Spring semester, 2008
- Brief Description of project/course: To create a learning community that fosters an appreciation for and an understanding of the origin of sociological knowledge, through statistics. This will be a 6 hour linked-course in which both professors attend both classes.
- Outcomes for students/projects: Activities will include a research project culminating in a completed research portfolio at the end of the semester. These activities will enable the student to gain an understanding of the link between the statistical research process and knowledge about society.
- Explicit Correlation between math and non-math content: Teaching students that the basis sociological knowledge lies in gathering, testing, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting statistical information.
