TIMELINE

Spring 2006 – Supervise student research using currently available software and hardware to produce a User’s Guide to the Mio PDA/GPS and MapTech software for the “average” student.

Summer 2006 - Attend Mathematics Across the Community College Curriculum (MAC3) workshop to expand and enhance current course offering.  Test proto-type exercises using student volunteers.

Fall 2006 - Implement preliminary exercises and assessments into existing MATH 1000 course.  Outline specific curriculum unit contents and expand hands-on field-based activities, using our current available technology.

Spring 2007 – Field-test unit exercises with the help of student volunteers, both science and non-science majors.

Summer 2007 - Offer a six-week summer field intensive that combines the pre-existing courses MATH 1000 Problem Solving and GEOL 1070 Earth: Its Physical Environment. Students attending the intensive will earn 7 college credits that will count toward the General Education Core at Central Wyoming College, or that can be transferred to another institution.

Fall 2007 – Evaluate activities and assessments and write final report to WSGC.

The Future – If this summer intensive proves to be successful, it will be offered during alternate years.  Future grant proposals may be written to develop new curriculum units within this interdisciplinary offering.
